Functional Summary
At the age of 15 Stephen Payne began mixing aluminum paint for coating smooth
surfaced roofs. During summer breaks from high school he worked as a laborer
on a flat roofing crew. After completion of College he started work as an
estimator and per formed quantity take offs from blue prints. In 1973 he bought
out the junior partner in Silvercool Service Company and became Vice President.
In 1980 he took primary control of the business and ran it until its sale
in 2004.
He has managed numerous new construction and reroofing projects. These include
difficult projects like the reroofing of the MICU and SICU units of St. Anthony’s
Hospital and the Water Reuse project for the Denver Water Board. Steve also
has extensive experience with the repair and maintenance of existing roofs.
He became expert at extending the life of roofs after working for many years
in the extended warranty program at Silvercool.
